Thrombosis UK is seeking two new trustees who share our mission and passion for thrombosis awareness, advocacy and education and have the skills and commitment to help Thrombosis UK thrive.

Established in 2002, Thrombosis UK is the leading UK thrombosis charity, working with patients, healthcare professionals and all stakeholders to further understanding of venous thromboembolism (VTE), increase awareness and support improved prevention, management, and patient outcomes.

The charity is looking for two individuals with a passion to make a difference and enthusiastic to support a small but well established and growing healthcare charity.

Access to training can be provided to support them in their role ensuring the charity continues to work towards its mission.

The role of Trustee is a volunteer role although standard class travel and reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Roles:

Thrombosis UK Trustee with specific experience in business, marketing and communications

As a Thrombosis UK volunteer, you play a vital role in the raising of awareness and understanding about venous thromboembolism - blood clots - also known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and PE (pulmonary embolism).

Whether you are able to volunteer on a regular basis or for a one-off event, you will be helping to make a difference.

You will be helping to raise awareness and letting others know they are not alone in their recovery journey.

Media & press

Each year Thrombosis UK hold awareness campaigns. Press and media coverage is critical to increasing awareness to many 1000s of people.

To be included on a bank of volunteers we could call upon if approached, you would need to first share your thrombosis story with the Thrombosis UK team.

Speak Out

Annually Thrombosis UK hosts and supports conferences, often for healthcare professionals. If you are passionate about raising awareness of blood clots, a confident communicator and comfortable presenting to an audience. We are seeking volunteers who would be happy to present and share their experience of thrombosis.

Employee volunteer days

Does your employer offer an annual volunteer day? We would welcome liaising with you on how your time could help Thrombosis UK.

Do you have a few hours to offer each month or an occasional day ?

Enjoy reading ?

We are seeking reviewers who are confident in proof-reading, reviewing and providing feedback on existing and in-development resources.

Passionate to raise awareness ?

Volunteer to man a Thrombosis UK awareness stand.

Sharing patient information is a vital part of our work to raise awareness of the risks, signs and symptoms of blood clots. If you enjoy talking to the general public, can offer a half day or full day, one to three times per year and are able to travel (usually within 20 miles of your location), please contact us by clicking the button below:

If you are based in the Bristol / South Bristol area, we are seeking admin volunteers to help source and record donated stock for the on-line Thrombosis UK shop.

Act of kindness

Could you help support a new patient resource page on the Thrombosis UK website, ‘a letter to you’ ?

We would like to post letters from blood-clot survivors to others. It’s ok for your letter to be anonymous.


A few suggestions on topics that might be helpful to include:

  • Your age at the time
  • How it affected you
  • Those early days in recovery
  • Coping with changes, perhaps in friends, family, work and activity
  • Tips that helped you
