Parliamentary question - Are steps being taken to improve processing times for claims for compensation for injuries caused by the Covid vaccine.

Carla Lockhart DUP asked the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care whether he is taking steps to improve processing times for claims for compensation for injuries caused by the Covid vaccine.

Maria Caulfield, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Department for Business and Trade) (Minister for Women) provided a written answer on 20th April 2023:

While the Government does not provide compensation for Covid-19 vaccines, steps are being taken to continuously improve processing times for claims to the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme, working with the NHS Business Service Authority which administers the scheme.

Improvements to date include digitising the application process and increasing the number of administration staff from four to 80, allowing for named case managers who can provide updates on progress to claimants.
