Abigail's Story

My name is Abigail, and I am 22 years old. Two years ago, in March 2020, I was diagnosed with a Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST).

My beloved best friend, Soph, aged 28, died suddenly and tragically in 2019

Sarah’s beloved best friend, Soph, died suddenly and tragically in 2019 aged just 28. To honour her memory and take part in something way beyond her comfort zone, she signed up to the Royal Parks Half Marathon in April 2021, the Edinburgh Half in May 2021 and is rounding the year off with the Amsterdam Marathon in October 2021.

Nina's London Marathon Run

My dad sadly passed away in March 2014, due to Thrombosis. As a child I told my dad I wanted to run the London marathon, now I have a ballot place, sadly he can’t be there to watch.

At the beginning of June 2018 myself and my friends received some devastating and heart breaking news. My close friend Jo had suddenly and tragically Passed away.

Shaun's Gateshead 10k Trail Run for Thombosis UK

As a patient representative on the Thrombosis UK board of trustees I have witnessed first-hand the passion, expertise, and vision of the Thrombosis UK team. They are committed to education, research, first class management, and prevention of VTE (Venous Thromboembolism). I will be running with our two daughters Melanie and Ashley at the Gateshead 10K on Saturday 11th August. I am delighted to support the drive to prevent VTE affecting others.

Summer Wolf Run

Blake is back to fundraise for us for a second year. He completed an Autumn Monster Race in September 2017 in memory his Nannie who died on 3rd August 2016, raising over £650, and is signed up to do a Summer Wolf Run in June 2018.

Raising money through multiple activities

On the 2nd July 2017 Sarah lost her sister Jolene, only 23, suddenly due to a pulmonary embolism. She left behind two young children. The whole family have been raising money in her memory since then and have raised over £2,000 so far.
